EPP SERVICE

EPP Books services was established in February 1991 but was open to the public on 29th July, 1991 with a shop floor space of about 5x 4 square metres mainly to fill the vacuum that existed in the provision of textbooks for tertiary education. There was a severe shortage of textbooks for tertiary education sector during the period between 1982 and 1991. Tertiary education books on the market those days were either used ones or very old editions from Nigeria and were sometimes even pirated ones which were also not legible enough for users. The situation then was very grim until EPP Books Services was established.

MISSION
Our mission was to provide a wide range of books to satisfy the needs of various target groups by making the appropriate product (s) available at the right price to customers. BRANCHES EPP Books Services has expanded its distribution network in Ghana with branches in La, Accra, Achimota, Agbogba, Accra New Town, Manet Cottage, Aflao, Cape Coast, Koforidua, Kumasi and Tamale. We also have branches in other West African countries including Nigeria, Benin, and Sierra Leone. More outlets would be opened in other countries in the next few years.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Our primary responsibility is to our customers without whom there is no reason for our existence. EPP Books Services does not only engage in retail services, but also provide consultancy, library supplies, and publishing services. We also organize book fairs and exhibitions.

GHANA OIL PALM DEVELOPMENT CAMPANY LTD (GOPDC)
The company, goals and policies

The Ghana oil Palm Development Company(GOPDC) Limited is an integrated agro-industrial company specialized in the organic cultivation of oil palm, extraction of crude palm oil and palm kernel oil and in the refining and fractionation of these products, GOPDC has about 20,500 hectars of oil palm plantations as its Kwae and okumaning estates in the Eastern Region, of which about 14,000 ha developed for about 7,000 outgrowers. The operations spread over a radius of 30km, creating a secured income for over 50,000 people.

The company operates a 60mt/h fresh fruits bunch palm oil mill, 45 mt/day palm kernel mill and a 100 mt/day refinery and fractionation plant. The products include organic crude palm oil, palm kernel oil, refined bleached and deodorized oil, free fatty acids, olien, superolien, and stearin. A greater percentage of its products are sold locally.

GOPDC has a total work force of about 2,589 comprising of about 2,583 workers at kwae/Okumaning and 6 workers at the Tema Tank Farm. Annual production of fresh fruits bunches ranged between 100,000 metric tons and 135,000 metric tons for the past three years. The company produces over 30,000 tons of palm oil and palm kernnel oil per annum and has a storage capacity of about 15,000tons both at kwae and Tema.

The Company is committed to providing top quality products and services to its numerous consumers and clients. Management is ambitious and has set out to achieve the following management goals:

  • Continue to plant 3,000ha left in Okumaning;
  • Continue to develop environmentally sustainable plantations and to produce organic palm oil which is free from residual pesticides;
  • Increase the mill capacity to 80mt FFB/hr;
  • Increase storage capacity(Kwae and Tema) to 18,000MT; and
  • Listing of shares on the Ghana Stock Exchange.

It is GOPDC's policy is establish and maintain high standards of occupational health and safety at the work place and to ensure environmental protection.GOPDC is committed to compliance of all relevant national environmental and occupational heath and safety laws. The updating of GOPDC EMP is to consolidate environmental achievements made to date , improve upon its environmetal performance and to guide management towards more effective environmental, occupational safety and health actions in the next three years.

THE COCA-COLA BOTTLING CAMPANY OF GHANA LIMITED (TCCBCGL)
The (TCCBCGL) WAS formed from the divestiture of the bottling Division of G.N.T.C in March 7 1995 at the GNTC plant at Adjabeng in Accra. The new premises sited off Spintex Road, was commissioned in 1996. the company has two production facilitates situated in Accra and Kumasi with a combined capacity of 9000 cases per hour. The company has thirteen other distribution centres all over the country and employs over 700 direct employees. It has about 35,000 registered customers who rely mainly on selling our products for their income. Quality care for the environment and contribution to national development are qualities enshrined in the day-to-day operations of the company. As 1 million Waste Water treatment facility was commissioned at our Accra plant in 2001 to ensure that the wastewater from our production process is safe for the environment and can support fish life. A second Waste Water treatment has also being installed and commissioned at the Kumasi plant in January 2004, at a cost of about 600,000.

Our vision of creating a workplace which acknowledges and rewards individual contribution and engenders togetherness is still on course. Through well laid down structures we have ensured a very proactive approach to labour-related issues.

WIENCO GHANA LIMITED
Wienco (Ghana) Limited was established in1979. The company specializing importation and distribution of fertilizers and agrochemicals. Since the privatization of fertilizer import by Ghana government, Wienco has been the biggest importer of fertilizer into the country. In Tema, Wienco has a big warehouse where various fertilizers imported are stored and later distributed to farmers all over the country through registered retail outlets. Similar depots are in Kumasi and Tamale. The Tamale depot feeds our retail outlets in Northern, Upper West and Upper East Regions. Wienco is also deeply involved in the growth of Ghana’s cotton industry. Wienco was adjudged the Best Foreign Business of the year by the Millennium Excellence Foundation in August 2005. The objective of the company is to be a trusted, reliable, efficient and reasonably priced marketer of agricultural inputs and out puts. In addition, we wish to expand and create niche markets for coconut and mango as well as cotton.

KASAPREKO CAMPANY LIMITED (KCL)
KCL is a private company incorporated on March 9, 1987. From a very humble beginning with staff strength of only four and total output of four cartons (64 litres) of gin a week in 1986, the company is now, a leader in the alcoholic beverage industry in Ghana. KCL now has a permanent work force of 101 and a fully automated bottling plant (from bottle washing to packing).
